A Future is a contractual agreement to buy or sell a particular commodity or financial instrument at a pre-determined price on a specific date in the future. Futures contracts can derive from a variety of assets, from traditional commodities like corn, wheat and orange juice, to different asset classes like government bonds, interest rates, energy and stock indices.
Transparent Pricing
Futures are highly liquid exchange traded financial instruments, meaning individuals can trade on tight
spreads. The transaction costs are comparatively low and their pricing is transparent due to the level of specificity found in Futures Contracts, as well as the regulations imposed by the various exchanges. No physical delivery
Astral Financial does not support physical delivery of the underlying security on expiry of a Futures Contract.
On or before the expiry of a Futures Contract, Astral Financial will cash settle a client’s positions on their behalf.
Astral Financial allows you to trade Contract Options on gold, oil and other commodities, currencies, interest rates, bonds and major stock indices.

An Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) is an index-based investment, whose performance is based on its correlating index. ETFs give investors the chance to buy whole indices as easily as buying a share on stock exchanges. These investment products can be included in ISAs and have the lowest annual charges of all collective investment schemes. In addition, some ETFs list derivatives and futures contracts and can also be sold short or margined.
ETFs are a ‘tax friendly’ investment. Capital gains taxes are generally lower for ETFs than traditional mutual funds due to the structure of each trade. The individual capital gains are not realised until the assets are sold with the entire fund.
Many ETFs list options and futures contracts, which are great tools for risk-managing your portfolio. So whether you want to hedge your ETFs with calls and puts or trade ETF volatility with option straddles, some funds will have that flexibility.
Trading ETFs is similar to purchasing a ‘mini-portfolio’ as opposed to a basket of stocks. Therefore, you can target a certain price and purchase with one single transaction. ETFs are traded throughout market hours. ETFs can be sold short or on margin, and prices are continuously
updated during the trading day. In other words ETFs trade just like equities on the stock market.
